Effects of aerobic vs. resistance training on visceral and liver fat stores, liver enzymes, and insulin resistance by HOMA in overweight adults from STRRIDE AT/RT
  • organism-icon Homo sapiens
  • sample-icon 118 Downloadable Samples
  • Technology Badge Icon Affymetrix Human Genome U133 Plus 2.0 Array (hgu133plus2)

Description

The aim of this work was to compare the effects of AT, RT, and the full combination (AT/RT) on central ectopic fat, liver enzymes, and fasting insulin resistance [homeostatic model assessment (HOMA)]

Publication Title

Impact of resistance exercise on human skeletal muscle gene expression - ageing
  • organism-icon Homo sapiens
  • sample-icon 82 Downloadable Samples
  • Technology Badge Icon Affymetrix Human Genome U133 Plus 2.0 Array (hgu133plus2)

Description

The aim of this work was to produce a reproducible molecular signature of human muscle responses to resistance training and examine how such a profile relates to new and established exercise adaptation gene networks.

Description

FITFATTWIN study identified from the FinnTwin16 Cohort, which is a population based, longitudinal study of Finnish twins born between October 1974 and December 1979. The participants had no chronic disease affecting the ability to exercise, no acute disease, and no drug or alcohol abuse.

Stockholm dataset for ageing prototype diagnostic
  • organism-icon Homo sapiens
  • sample-icon 27 Downloadable Samples
  • Technology Badge Icon Affymetrix Human Genome U133 Plus 2.0 Array (hgu133plus2)

Description

Muscle biopsy samples from healthy male subjects at the baseline belonging to either <29y or >59y age range. These samples were used to design a prototype of multi-tissue molecular diagnostic of healthy physiological age.

Expression data from growth plate cartilage of control and immobilized embryonic chickens
  • organism-icon Gallus gallus
  • sample-icon 23 Downloadable Samples
  • Technology Badge Icon Affymetrix Chicken Gene 1.1 ST Array (chigene11st)

Description

Affymetrix Chicken Gene 1.0 ST Array (ChiGene-1_1-st) profiles were generated from growth plate cartilage derived from the distal femur and proximal tibia of embryonic chickens at three developmental stages (day 12, 13 and 15) corresponding to stages prior to and immediately after the acqusition of mechano-responsive cartilage growth in the femur but not tibia (which does not respond to mechanical stimuli until later stages). Additionally, array profiles were generated from growth plate cartilage from the distal femur and proximal tibia of E15 chicks which were pharmacologically immobilized by decamethonium bromide treatment, which reduces longitudinal growth of the femur only at this stage.
